A framework to call my own.

Many people wonder what is the best framework for project management, what is the best choice? But the question people should really ask is: do I want to be an expert in the field? If you just want to do a project, or do projects sporadically, it is probably worth choosing one method, or methodology, and follow it. If you want to be an expert, then you probably want to know a few, to at least know what is the best technique to apply when the challenges come, here are some of the main ones:

PRINCE2, silver lining: because it is a method created by the British government, it is great to be applied in government agencies in common-law countries. This is because its method based on 7 themes and 7 processes allows the institution to guarantee the necessary transparency and agility, without however losing the control that is necessary for governmental autarchies. Downside: the themes may seem confusing or too focused on a "business" vision that sometimes the staff is not qualified to understand and analyze, and the system may seem bureaucratic if practiced by someone without experience.

PMBOOK, the good side: the Project Management Institute's framework is your toolbox for managing a project, it has tools from low complexity to high complexity, providing the project manager with an arsenal of knowledge to manage his team. The downside: your toolbox doesn't come with an instruction manual, it tells you what to do, but not how to do it. Its origin was waterfall, and this can make the project become bureaucratic and not very effective.

Scrum, the good side: The favorite of agile methodologies is actually a structural framework, that is: it tells you how to manage the project. It's like rock music, it gives you a rhythm that goes with everything. Great for start-ups and technology companies. The downside: If not followed to the letter, you end up losing some of the rhythm, it is common to see "stand-ups" where everyone is sitting down, a project that is carried on the belly and that does not document anything by pretending that this is an agile management value. The result is that no one outside the team learns from their work.

Unless you are looking for a methodology to manage projects sporadically in your organization, it is important to know the pros and cons of each methodology, and to know which one is the most adherent for the moment your organization is going through.
